30-Second Movie Review: XXX
Haven't done one of these in a while. Jason Kottke's review just came through my aggregator, he wrote:
XXX, taking it's cue from Charlie's Angels, is pure stylized action and explosions with limited interruptions for things like the plot. The gadgets, love story, and dialogue are cheesy as hell and deliberately so because Diesel and company recognize that there's no need for it, other than to poke fun at other action movies (the tricked-out GTO at the end of the movie takes the piss out of Bond's increasingly ridiculous gadget cars). And I loved every minute of it.
My first thought after seeing this flick was that James Bond ain't got nothing on Xander Cage. Cage is everything that Bond isn't: crude, crass, direct, and eager to blow stuff up. This is Vin Diesel's breakout role, forget about The Fast and the Furious.
Most of the action takes place in Prague, which brought extra enjoyment for me. Praha is my favorite city in the world, and seeing XXX brought back many great memories.
BSQUARE's CE.NET wireless reference platform
The "Power Handheld" is CE.NET device with an XScale CPU, integrated GSM/GPRS, retractable keyboard, and 4-inch VGA LCD (640x480). It's a bit larger than the current crop of Pocket PCs and uses a horizontal orientation.
I want one.

Slashdot: First Commercial Moon Mission Approved.
Part of the mission is to "verify Apollo and other landing sites", which has evoked a rare thing on Slashdot, great commentary:
Who thinks that people silly enough to believe the first trip to the moon was a hoax will now believe that this trip is for real?
That was my first thought too.
But then I realized that the solution is obvious: We just need to round up all the people who think that the moon landing was a hoax, take them to the moon, and -- this is the important bit -- leave them there.
