30-Second Movie Review
The New Guy. A terminally uncool high school senior, Dizzy (DJ Qualls), decides to re-invent himself at a new school. Lending a hand are a group of convicts lead by Luther (Eddie Griffin), who befriended Dizzy after being arrested over a school prank.
This isn't American Pie, or even Road Trip. There aren't so many cheap laughs, and many humorous bits are subtle. Some of the most memorable moments for me were cameo appearances by the likes of Gene Simmons (KISS) as a preacher and Robert van Winkle (Vanilla Ice) as a bouncer turned record store manager. If you aren't paying close attention, you may miss some of them.
Verdict: This summer is packed with mega-hits, and this isn't one of them. You'll leave the theater smiling, but it's not worth going out of your way for.
Having a good weekend, away from my computer. The weather in Florida is beautiful right now, and so are the women
Hopefully I'll have some time to catch up on things tomorrow afternoon...
