ZDNet Zaurus Review

They rated the Zaurus SL-5500 a 6.6 out of 10. The standard praises and gripes are covered, along with a new one:

There's a two- to three-second delay when you power the SL-5500 on or off. It's not a huge issue, but we've grown accustomed to the snappy response of Palm- and Pocket PC-powered devices.

Whereas all Palm and Pocket PC devices have a tiny button, usually placed at the top which will instantly power them on/off, on the Zaurus you must hold the large "Cancel" button on the front for about a second (not the 2-3 claimed in the review). This mechansim has advantage to it: I've yet to unintentionally turn on my Zaurus while carrying it in my back pants pocket. With my Audiovox Maestro, unintentional power-ons have been a constant problem.

The drawbacks to this design are that it take a second to power on or off, and that if done wrong, pressing the Cancel button will close the current application. The latter is a serious HCI flaw.

Price fixing cause of dropping audio CD sales.  [via ARTS & FARCES internet]

If the marketplace were truly as simple as the article would have you believe, more Economists would be standing in the unemployment line. If Price Fixing and Collusion were not successful methods of increasing revenue for dominant corporations, there would be no need for laws against such acts.

My belief is that CD sales mirror the economy as a whole. Anecdotally, my own CD purchasing habbits certainly have. These days I don't even look at CDs. Two years ago I would bring a co-worker along during my bi-weekly trips to the music shop because I could not carry all of my purchases to the register.

Yet another problem with using Categories and Themes to publish a site independent of my Radio weblog. For whatever reason, Radio over-wrote the manual changes that I made to #template.txt and #homeTemplate.txt. In the spirit of showing the computer who is the boss, after correcting the templates again I revoked their write permissions.
