MOB Questions

My roommate posted some questions in response to the screenshots I posted from Mobile Offline Blogger.

Just noticed that the first entry in the screenshots you posted "03:06 Wireless Zaurus, ..." doesn't end after the title. Is this intentional?

There is no spoon. Err, title. The Blogger API has no support for titles, the screenshot is showing a portion of the complete weblog entry. So far as I know, none of the Blogger API implementations will pass titles as part of the post.

MOB Beta 2 should add support for the MetaWeblog API, which allows more meta-data about an entry to be exposed. Other APIs may be supported if they become popular.

Are you planning to add a feature that will let you enter the tags that you use to denote a title?

With Beta 2, if the MetaWeblog API is selected in the configuration, a title field will be shown in the editor.

Also, are there separate screens for Offline (ie. draft) blog entries and Online (ie. posted) entries?

All entries are treated the same. When MOB has connectivity, each new or edited entry will be posted. Then the cache will be flushed and refreshed with the last X entries (configurable).

More advanced caching was considered, so that entries originating (or edited) from MOB might be retained longer... but that would complicate the UI, and refreshing the cache would require additional XML-RPC round-trips for each of those entries. Simplicity wins.
